DescriptionEarly Ontario-German furniture of the Niagara Peninsula was generally more refined than that found elsewhere in the province. Tall chests such as this were a common Pennsylvania-German form. However, in this instance, the maker, David Simmerman, is thought to have been born in German. The "M.M 1821" here represents the bride (unidentified) of Samuel T. Moyer (1798-1874) and the year of their marriage.
