DescriptionTall-case clocks are among the finest examples of early Anglo-Quebec cabinetry work. The design of the case reflects New England examples of the Federal period. Typically the mechanisms for clocks were imported from England or Scotland. Orkney, the clockmaker, acted as assembler and retailer only, which was the customary practice in the colonial clock-making trade.
