This snapshot shows Chiedza Pasipanodya sitting on the front steps of a brick home with her cousins, Yevedzo and Dadiso Mazhude, who were visiting Toronto from Zimbabwe. The family had reunited for Chiedza's mother's wedding. Chiedza holds a Spice Girls book. Chiedza recalls how the girls adored Spice Girls at this time. Her mother, Dorcas, used to send Spice Girls paraphernalia to her cousins in Zimbabwe. Prints of this image appear in many of the family's albums.

Dorcas and her daughter, Chiedza, immigrated to Canada from Harare, Zimbabwe. Photographs have played an important role in their family, helping them to stay connected with relatives. Their collection of family photographs includes: photos from the 1930s and 1940s of Dorcas' mother in her village (Chivhu); photos of Dorcas growing up with her siblings in Harare; life in Canada; and reunions in both Zimbabwe and Canada.

This image is part of The Family Camera Network public archive at the Royal Ontario Museum, which includes photographs, oral histories, and other objects from family photo collections.
