DescriptionOne half of a butcher knife wooden handle, recovered from the French River (Double Rapids) along with other fur trade commodities in 1961. The current interpretation for these objects is that they sank to the bottom of the river during canoe accidents. In the fur trade context, knives were generally destined for trade with Indigenous individuals and communities in exchange for food and furs.
