Description

This plate is a rarity among early Canadian silver. It bears and arms of two distinguished families, Le Ber de Senneville and Gaultier de la Vérendrye. Jean-Baptiste Le Ber de Senneville and Marie-Anne Gaultier de Varennes de la Vérendrye were married in Montreal on June 25, 1743. This plate likely dates from the time of that event or the decade thereafter.
