DescriptionTraces of the 1845-1846 winter quarters of the lost Franklin expedition were found at Beechey Island in August 1851. This watercolour and 955.141.2 and 955.141.3 were painted by the same artist after the final evidence of the fate of the Franklin expedition was discovered by the M'Clintock expedition of 1857-1859 and published by Sir Francis Leopold M'Clintock, London 1860.
