DescriptionFor many years this was the star piece of the ROM’s early English-style furniture from Quebec. It was thought to have belonged to the Duke of Kent, Queen Victoria’s father, when he lived in Quebec City (1791-1793). The grandeur of this piece is an anomaly in colonial Canadian furniture and were it not for the pine and poplar, this could have been from a cabinetry workshop in England.  There is a strong possiblity that it is colonial American.
