The Deichmanns were among Canada’s best known studio potters of their time. Kjeld Deichmann was born in Denmark, Erica Deichmann in Wisconsin, the daughter of a Danish clergyman. After studying pottery in Denmark, they opened Dykelands Pottery in Moss Glen, New Brunswick in 1935, relocating to nearby Sussex in 1956. They worked in everything from stoneware to porcelain.
