DescriptionThe name “imperial topaz” likely originated from nineteenth century Russia, whose Ural Mountains were an active source for the gemstone. Today, “imperial” denotes the unusual sherry colour of this variety of topaz, the most sought after of topaz colours, which include blue, pink, red and brown colour ranges. At present, the main source of imperial topaz is Ouro Prêto, Brazil.
