Description

Heneker dinner service

This is part of a larger service which belonged to the Heneker family of Dublin, Ireland. The service was inherited by Richard Heneker (1823-1912) who immigrated to Canada in 1855. The next year he was appointed commissioner of the British American Land Company, making him one of the most powerful men in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Among his many positions, he was president of the Eastern Townships Bank and chancellor of Bishop’s College (now University), Lennoxville (Sherbrooke), Quebec.
