Nearly five thousand years ago, when leather strapping formed a web for sitting, this simple low stool was in daily use.  The height of the stool is similar to Predynastic bedframes, suggesting that this was used for kneeling or sitting cross-legged. It’s possible that the long tapered ends of the side rails were handles used when carrying this stool.  Fragments of ancient leather remain in the webbing slots.
