Description This mushroom shaped glass ear-stud was created by twisting threads of white and blue coloured glass together.  Such an ornament would have been inserted through a hole in the earlobe so that the round head would show on the outside.  Earrings seem to have been worn first by women, but by used men as well during the New Kingdom. Such glass ear studs were immensely popular in the 18th Dynasty, but they fell out of use with the decline in glass production at the end of the Nineteenth Dynasty.
