DescriptionPart of a wooden tomb model of a type popular in undecorated tombs during the First Intermediate Period and Middle Kingdom. This is a model wooden, large, neckless, storage jar with a ledged rim. On top is a conical stopper painted black with a white spiral indicating the seal of the vessel. Traces of cream paint appear on the ovoid body, but mostly the surface is abraded. There is a wide vertical crack from top to bottom on one side of the vessel. There is a hole (7 mm wide) in the rounded base which contains the remains of a dowel which originally connected the vessel to a scene.
