This beautiful statue fragment depicts a king the early 18th Dynasty.  Though it is tempting to see Hatshepsut in the gently curving cheeks and high cheek-bones, some scholars identify the treatment the eye-brow as somewhat earlier, perhaps her father, Thutmosis I or her husband-brother Thutmosis II.  Even in its broken state, this fragment expresses a calm, assured and regal presence.

This fragmentary head once belonged to a complete statue, but not enough remains to know the posture of the original.
