DescriptionThis clamp once helped to keep the drums of a column in line during the construction of the temple of Nebhepetre Montuhotep at Deir el Bahari. As mortar was in common use, such clamps were not always required. Such simple finds bring us into the company of the architects and masons of the ancient world.
