DescriptionThis kind of shallow dish or bowl has been found in great numbers at the Early Dynastic sites of Abydos and Sakkara, usually in or near graves. Such elegant dishes would have been used either to hold offerings, or at the actual funerary banquets for the dead. Bowls like this have been found with remains of ancient food.
