This wooden model of a rectangular basket or box has a circular dowel hole on the base which would have been used to connect it to a tomb model scene, perhaps a bakery. The sides taper down to the base which flares out on the short sides. The top part is convex and has been painted white, possibly indicating a linen cloth covering the intended contents of the basket, probably bread. The sides of the box have been covered with gesso and painted a pale brown/yellow. On top of this a series of black vertical and horizontal lines forming a criss-cross pattern have been painted. Worn and damaged with a piece from the top and a piece from the base missing.

Object History: Excavated by the Egypt Exploration Society, 1907-1910
