Description

An adze is a tool for working wood, almost as old as the axe. Adzes are used for smoothing or cutting wood.  They can be used in making boats or furniture  - any kind of carpentry.  They differ from an axe in that the cutting edge of the blade is perpendicular to the handle.

This type, with long parallel sides, is the earliest form.
