Description

Ancient Egyptians used wood to house the living and the dead, and to make furniture for this world and the next.  Many copper carpenter’s saws have been found, dating back to the first dynasties.

Copper saws were not very sharp and wore down quickly. These saws were used with a pulling motion, not a pushing (rip-saw).  The thin blade of this saw has small, regularly spaced teeth.  The handle was made in one piece with the blade, but is thicker.
