DescriptionOne of the earliest known vascular plants, Cooksonia heralds the movement of life from purely aquatic habitats onto land. These small plants probably lived in the damp areas surrounding a lagoon. They were washed into the sea where they were preserved along with the remains of the aquatic eurypterid, or sea scorpion.
