This simple necklace is worth a second look. Eleven amulets are strung amid the cylinder beads. The amulets are a charming and diverse group that includes a fine kitten, several forms of Bes, a fish and a baboon. Though their provenance is unknown, the similarity in size and shape and colour of the beads suggests they may indeed have formed an original whole, either to be worn in life, or to adorn and protect the deceased
