DescriptionSleds were used on packed trails during winter and in the spring over the crust that formed on the snow following a night freeze. Sleds were pulled by both human and dog power and were used to transport firewood, supplies, and equipment. When the ice was breaking in the spring and canoes were back in use, sleds were used to carry canoes between stretches of open water.
