DescriptionRectangular, steel lock decorated on both sides with brass plates which are decorated with incised geometric motifs. Locks such as this are used to secure leather bags containing precious items. The individual lock mechanism is complicated and can only be opened with the key made specifically for it (2012.62.64.2). The locking mechanism is placed in a metal casing and consists of a system of springs that are released when the key, or asrou, presses them together.
