DescriptionElaborately carved figurative pipe head in the shape of a human head. Pipes such as this were exclusively used by men and most often owned by title holders and notables. The Fombah compound where this pipe was allegedly dug out is known for the skill of its male and female potters. It is possible that this pipe belonged to a member of the family. Although carved in Bamum style, this pipe was most likely produced in Bamessing.
