DescriptionBy about 1905, the curvilinear, attenuated, shapes and whiplash motifs seen on domestic ceramics, glass and silver from the 1890s has given way to the more simplified, geometric shapes, often with angular handles, on the vessels and household objects of a decade later. Floral decoration has become either stylized or geometricised and is often repetitive and organized within a linear grid-like system that is subservient to and reinforces the simplified shape of the item.
