DescriptionThe stone stele erected in 1489 from which this rubbing was made gives an account of the history of the Jews in Kaifeng. The inscription features the word qingzhensi and refers here to a synagogue rather than to a mosque, for which it was more commonly used. The synagogue was destroyed in 1850.
