DescriptionIn Eastern churches the Prophet Elijah is one of the most popular among the saints of the Old Testament. Many scenes from his biography became the subject of separate panels, like this one of ours. Its inspiration is to be found in 1 Kings 19:4-7, "And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, an angel touched him, and said unto him. Arise and eat…and behold, there was a cake baken on the coals and a cruse of water at his head."
