DescriptionThe shapes of the earliest bronze vessels were based on ceramic containers of that time. This can be seen by comparing the ceramic li with the bronze vessel of the same shape. Around the 15th century BC, bronze was an expensive and rare commodity, and the principal function of these vessels was reserved for ceremonial rather than domestic purposes.
