DescriptionFragment of a Chian chalice (cup) decorated on the outside with a double cable pattern. The inside is painted with double white lines. This is an early example of the East Greek 'animal style' of decoration. This particular style of white-ground chalice made in Chios was produced to be a votive offering to the gods.
