Description

Making Relief Decoration

Step One: A sheet of clay was likely placed into a bowl-shaped mould, covering the interior surface, and then pressed into the concave designs.

Step Two: The mould was turned on a wheel and shaping tools smoothed the interior. After drying, the pot was removed, finished, dipped in a red slip, and fired.
