DescriptionThese decorated eaves tiles would have been placed at the lower end of a row of half-cylindrical tiles, with rows of flat tiles placed between them.
The three intact tiles feature stylized characters which read: Shang lin (Imperial forest), Yong shou jia fu (Forever receiving good luck), and Yi nian wu jiang (One hundred million years without end). The tile fragment is stamped with the Vermilion Bird, symbolizing the south.
