The typical bronze Chinese mirror is round, with its flat, reflecting face polished to produce a reflection of near-glass clarity. The  reverse is decorated in one way or another about a central loop or knob. This bronze mirror is undecorated with a concave rim with high outer edge. Flat knob and four large raised squares around knob, each with a character; knob with hall mark impressed in centre. Dull brown colour, with brassy highlights and face brassy with some staining. A so-called marriage mirror because of its use on such occasions.
