DescriptionAvalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva identified with Compassion, seems ready to intervene on behalf of all suffering beings. Once, having looked down upon the world and seeing its misery, he cried. The tears from his right eye produced Green Tara, who actively rescues all beings; the tears from his left produced White Tara whose benevolence sustains and watches over all beings.
