DescriptionThis over life-size head of a man is a fine example of Etruscan sculpture. The eyes, lips, and ears are very finely carved and well defined. The face is sensitively modelled with pronounced arches over the eyes, high cheek bones and the shifting planes of the cheeks flow into a well-modelled chin and delicately rendered lips. The hair was summarily blocked out and left rough. The overall impression is that of an idealized image of a young man with the furrows on his forehead adding a touch of realism. Traces of his cloak remain on the back of his right shoulder.
