DescriptionThe dedicatory inscription on this bell is translated as: "Bestowed by Director of Ceremonial Wei Bin: Made in the 13th year of the Zhengde period of the Great Ming dynasty (1518); With imperial permission suspended in the Temple of Great Bounty [Hongshan Si]; Long live the emperor, may he live for ten thousand and again ten thousand years." Other panels have text from the Sutra of the Names of the 35 Buddhas and the Vinaya Sutra.
