DescriptionThis vase is called a lydion because the shape was thought to originate in Lydia (modern Turkey), and was then adapted by Greek potters.This jar was made in the coastal region of Etruria, Italy, where local potters adopted Greek styles. It is decorated in the polychrome Etruscan 'Pontic style' which was heavily influenced by the shapes and decoration of East Greek pottery.
