DescriptionThe scene on this wine jug (oinochoe) shows a bearded Dionysos, holding vines, driving a four-horsed chariot (quadriga). In front of the horses stands a woman holding vine-sprays and touching one of the horses. She may be Ariadne or a Maenad. Behind her stands a man wearing a cloak and tall boots and carrying a staff, possibly Hermes.
