The Triad: Serapis, Isis, and Harpocrates
Unlike the Egyptian Osiris-Isis-Horus triad from which the Pharaoh was a direct descendant, the Romano-Egyptian triad of Serapis-Isis-Harpocrates remained more independent of the monarchy. Emphasizing the divine and the eternal, this family triad was used to depict the preservation of order in Egypt during the Roman period. These Romano-Egyptian deities offered Romans another avenue for spiritual fulfilment apart from the familiar Olympian deities.
