DescriptionThis Athenian wine cup (kylix or band cup) is decorated in black-figure technique with a frieze of miniature figures. In the centre of each side of the cup is a warrior putting greaves on his legs with his helmet sitting on the floor, while a woman stands in front of him holding his shield and spear. On either side of them are onlookers, both draped men and naked men carrying spears, as well as two horsemen. There are palmette decorations beside the handles of the cup. Beazley attributed this cup to the painters of the Group of Louvre F 81.
