DescriptionAmphora decorated in Athenian-style black-figure technique.  On one side is a bull facing left.  On the other side is a seated sphinx. This is a type of pottery known as the 'Chalcidean Class' which is usually found in Etruria or Southern Italy. However, there is still debate about where it was made. Athens, Chalcis in Euboea and South Italy, perhaps at Rhegium, and Etruria have all been proposed.
