On one side is the usual image for this type of vase. Athena armed with shield and spear faces left. This is the Athena Promachos (literally "Athena who stands in the front line of battle"). On either side of her are columns surmounted by cocks and beside the left column is the inscription “a prize from Athens”.
The other side shows a horse race where two horses and the naked boy-jockeys, wielding whips, compete for the prize.
On the base is a series of three scratched trademark graffitti. Attributed to the Eucharides Painter by Beazley.
