Description

Bust of a Roman Woman

This fine sculpture reflects the taste for realism in the portraiture of women in the early 3rd century AD. Her expressive eyes, gazing upwards to her right, have incised irises and deeply drilled pupils. Facial planes are delicately modeled; her features and expression are very individualistic.
