This askos (flask) is mould-made in the shape of a lobster's claw and has a wheel-made spout. The body is decorated in the red-figure technique with a youth reclining on pillows at a symposium. He holds a drinking cup (skyphos), wears a wreath and is draped from the waist down. Above him a fillet hangs on the wall, and a painted inscription reads "ho pais kalos" ("the boy is beautiful").
This vase is attributed to a painter near the Splanchnopt Painter, and to the potters of the Class of the Seven Lobster-Claws by Beazley.
