DescriptionBodice of a terno de lujo (Yucatecan
gala ensemble), which features shimmering bands of floral decoration. Maya women in the State of Yucatán make their distinctive
clothing from store-bought cloth and use a sewing machine to satin stitch the embroidered motifs. The festive huipil has a large lace-trimmed collar,
unlike the everyday version which has a square-cut neckline.
