DescriptionBodice of a terno de lujo (Yucatecan gala ensemble), which features shimmering bands of floral decoration. Maya women in the State of Yucatán make their distinctive clothing from store-bought cloth and use a sewing machine to satin stitch the embroidered motifs. The festive huipil has a large lace-trimmed collar, unlike the everyday version which has a square-cut neckline.
