Description

Tiraz fragment with floriated kufic. Although little remains of the inscription, the titles of the Fatimid Caliph al-Zahir provide a date. Delicate tendrils spring from the letters and sprout tiny trefoil leaves. Two narrower bands contain spotted striding quadrupeds (leopards).
