Description

Scenes of Gladiatorial Combat

The paired gladiators are in full fighting gear: a helmet, short leather tunic, a special protector for the left shin, and a large curved shield. Each gladiator holds a short stabbing sword or a trident at the ready. At the bottom of each fragment, a disarmed man has been knocked down and is about to be killed. These two fragments are from the same original piece.
