DescriptionStirrup jars were jugs specifically used to hold olive oil in the Mycenaean period. They were exported all around the Mediterranean sea, including Egypt and the Levant. This jar is decorated on the body with simple painted bands. It has a series of scale patterns on the shoulder and a spoked wheel motif on the top knob.
