DescriptionThe crocodile-like Steneosaurus lived in the sea. It could lash its long, narrow snout rapidly through the water to catch fish. With its short front limbs, Steneosaurus probably only left the water to lay eggs. A covering of bony armour plates embedded in the skin likely provided effective protection from larger predators.
