DescriptionThis embroidered picture is done in stumpwork, raised work. There is a white satin ground with oval picture in centre of shepherd and shepherdess in tent stitch. Surrounding motifs include a man on the right and a woman on left both in mid 17the century. dress. There are also two castles, lion, elk, trees, birds, bees, dog, rabbit, flowers and leaves. Larger figures are raised and padded. The embroidery is embellished with seed pearls, fresh water pearls, garnets and glass. It is mounted on a linen foundation.
